Released in late 2022, Jeepers Creepers: Reborn continued a trend set by many other horror franchises, including Halloween, picking and choosing material from previous installments with which to continue. Many had hoped Jeepers Creepers' soft reboot would stay faithful to the first film, which was a great mix of substance and style. Unfortunately, this new chapter fell flat with an ending that made zero sense and reduced the chances of any more sequels.

It's certainly fair to say that Jeepers Creepers: Reborn raised more questions than answers. Instead of taking the opportunity to address the film's cryptic plot points, Jeepers Creepers: Reborn chose to leave so much unexplained. This lack of payoff made for a convoluted ending and resulted in a downright bizarre viewing experience.

How Did Jeepers Creepers: Reborn End?

In Reborn, the Creeper came back to life again in the Florida countryside, hunting for the next 23 days. But rather than going on random kills, he became fixated on Laine and her unborn baby. This time, the creature had help with a cult trapping Laine, her fiancé Chase, and a film crew shooting a spooky Halloween video. The Creeper took out most of them at a manor, but Laine ended up baiting him, presenting an opportunity to kill her.

It turns out she had a psychic connection, with the Creeper revealing that if he ate her fetus, he'd become immortal. As he lifted her up to do so, she used his own daggers and stabbed him up, blinding him. It was quite ironic as he lost his "peepers," which then allowed Chase and Stu (a member of the film crew) to drop a metal pole from atop the manor right through his throat. Admittedly, it was a brutal, gory kill, but the film went on a weird trip right after, with no explanation available as to what was happening.

The Unexplained Developments in Jeepers Creepers: Reborn

A sinister close-up shows the snarling Creeper inside a building

A murder of crows arrived and swarmed the Creeper, somehow teleporting his corpse away. Sadly, they threw Stu off the roof, killing him too. Luckily, Chase and Laine escaped, meeting cops who were initially in doubt when they made the 911 call. But as Laine got in the car, her eyes turned black, with the crows at a different location revealing a reborn Creeper at the same time to cut to credits.

It's a mind-bending conclusion, but not in a good way. That's because nothing's divulged on how Laine had the connection, why the Creeper was connected to her blood, or if he poisoned her when he tried to take her child. Had he corrupted her, made Laine a Creeper, or done the same to her kid, it'd have truly freshened up the lore. In addition, the crows' powers are never explained. To make it worse, there was one white crow monitoring everything, coming off as an overlord, but its origin was kept a mystery. It seems all these threads are what director Timo Vuorensola kept unresolved to chart a new trilogy. But with fans and critics panning Reborn, it'll be surprising if the story continues after easily the worst movie in the series.
