Jean Grey, of Marvel's mutant X-Men, and Raven, the half-demon member of DC's Teen Titans, are both exceptionally gifted superheroines with powers that err on the dark side. Jean is well-known for her cosmic powers derived from the Phoenix Force. Raven, meanwhile, possesses the ability to draw upon the demonic energy of Trigon that could potentially destroy the world.

A crossover clash between the two characters would undoubtedly be an almighty collision. Jean's mutant powers and Raven's mystical abilities make for an interesting match-up that could be won by either woman.

10 Jean Grey: Possessed By The Phoenix Force

Jean Grey gets an immediate level up from being one of the few people able to withstand the power of the Phoenix Force. Jean is a powerful mutant with strong telekinetic and telepathic abilities. When possessed by the Phoenix Force, she harnesses enough power to destroy planets.

If Jean was in her Dark Phoenix or White Phoenix of the Crown form, then Raven may not stand a chance against her. Raven is powerful but the might of the Phoenix Force is on another cosmic level.

9 Raven: The Demonic Daughter Of Trigon

Raven uses dark magic in DC Comics.

Jean isn't the only one with the ability to draw from powerful and magical sources, however. Raven is the daughter of the demon, Trigon. Whilst possessed by her father, Raven's abilities are near limitless and she would have destroyed the world if it weren't for the Teen Titans.

If Raven was channeling the powers of Trigon then even the Phoenix Force could struggle to overcome her. A battle between Dark Phoenix and the demonic Raven would undoubtedly destroy the unfortunate planet that plays host to their clash.

8 Jean Grey: Skilled Telekinetic And Telepath

Even without the Phoenix Force, Jean Grey is an exceptionally gifted mutant. Jean is telekinetic and can move and manipulate other objects and people with her mind. Additionally, she is a skilled telepath who can interfere with people's thoughts.

Jean's powers make her a viable host for the Phoenix Force as she is powerful enough to withstand the might of the cosmic entity. She is an Omega-level mutant and one of the few Marvel characters to ever defeat Galactus.

7 Raven: A Telekinetic Empath Who Can Teleport Through Dimensions

Raven has an array of abilities and is so powerful that, without the Phoenix Force, she arguably surpasses Jean Grey. The Cambion is a demon-human hybrid who, like Jean, has also displayed telekinetic and telepathic powers.

In addition to this, Raven is an exceptionally gifted empath who can interfere with other people's emotions. She can also fly, astral project and has extraordinary supernatural knowledge due to her background in Azarath.

6 Jean Grey: Destroyer Of Planets

Jean Grey's abilities as the Phoenix are so great that the Omega-level mutant has destroyed planets. In X-Men #135, Dark Phoenix destroys a star that then wipes out a nearby planet, killing countless innocent people.

This level of power makes Jean a hard foe to overcome. Her abilities as the Dark Phoenix would undoubtedly give her an advantage over Raven. The Cambion may have to draw upon the dark and demonic energy of her father to defeat Jean in combat.

5 Raven: Destroyer Of Our World

Raven has also displayed a terrifying level of power throughout her various incarnations in different media. In the 2003 animated TV series Teen Titans, Raven fulfills an ancient power and becomes the conduit for Trigon. The demon unleashes hell on earth and destroys our world as we know it.

Raven overcomes her father's influence in the TV series and the comic books. The Azarathian displays a tremendous amount of power with and without Trigon's influence that is similar to Jean Grey's abilities in Marvel comics.

4 Jean Grey: The Strongest Of The X-Men

Jean Grey could be considered as the strongest member of the X-Men, as well as one of its primary figures. Jean made her comic book debut in The X-Men #1, published in 1963. Her character was introduced as Marvel Girl, the sole female member of the team.

Jean's powers have developed throughout her comic book history into one of the strongest skillsets in Marvel. As a long-term member of the X-Men, she has experience as well as skill under her belt. This makes her a difficult opponent for Raven to overcome.

3 Raven: The Strongest Teen Titan

Raven of the Teen Titans

Raven could also be regarded as the strongest member of the Teen Titans, however. Unlike heroes who utilize martial arts such as Robin, Raven draws her powers from supernatural sources. She is arguably stronger than Starfire, a Tameranian armed with star bolts, and has proved difficult for the team to take on in the past.

Unlike Jean Grey, Raven is not an original member of her team. Raven was introduced to the Titans in 1980's The New Teen Titans #1. She remains one of the most iconic members, however, and an experienced part of the team.

2 Jean Grey: Mutant Powers

Without the Phoenix Force, the source of Jean Grey's powers stems from her mutant genes. As an Omega-level mutant, Jean is exceptionally powerful. Her telekinetic abilities could overwhelm even the emotionally controlled Raven in a fight.

The term 'Omega-level' was first introduced in 1986's Uncanny X-Men #208 before being further explored in 2001's X-Men Forever. Jean is an Omega-level telepath and, like other characters including Magneto, has demonstrated exceptionally unique attributes.

1 Raven: Mystical Powers

Raven also derives her power from her DNA, though her abilities are mystical in origin as opposed to a mutation. Raven is a demon-human hybrid and the offspring of Trigon. Raven's skills, though similar to Jean's, are more supernatural than the Omega mutant.

This gives Raven an edge in battle as Jean may be unprepared for the paranormal powers of the Cambion. Raven has displayed dark and ethereal abilities, such as trapping her enemies in the dark realm. This could give her the upper hand over Jean - though the Phoenix Force may have more success.
