With all the talk about cameo roles in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, both secret ones and the ones that Kevin Smith has revealed on social media, the director just revealed another special cameo today -- and this time it is a comic book character.

Kevin Smith posted to Twitter a teaser for how he decided to add a shout out to Captain Marvel in his next movie. This was done to pay back Marvel for referencing his second movie, Mallrats, in Captain Marvel.

In Mallrats, Kevin Smith experienced a dream come true for the lifetime comic book fan. He cast Stan Lee in his movie and had the Marvel Comics mastermind take part in an autograph signing at the mall. In Captain Marvel, which took place in 1995, when Mallrats was released, Carol Danvers passes Stan Lee on a train where he is reading the script for Mallrats. The Marvel architect even says his line from the film.

Smith was touched by this reference to his movie, and now it is time for him to pay back Marvel. As with all the View Askewniverse movies, comic books and comic book stores play a large role, as the fictional Bluntman & Chronic movie was based on the comics created by Banky Edwards (Jason Lee) and Holden McNeil (Ben Affleck).

As the referenced screencap above shows, it is Banky who walks through the comic book store and picks up an issue of Captain Marvel.
