Now, Smith is finally bringing his most popular creations back to life, and he finished his post by telling readers to never give up, even when your heart wants to.

On Feb. 25, 2018, Smith suffered a heart attack while performing on stage at a comedy show in Glendale, California. Now, less than one year since that incident, Smith has lost over 50 pounds and is ready to bring Jay and Silent Bob back to life.

Smith also posted a link to an Instagram post he made from Feb. 7, 2017 where he originally announced the film. The post includes the title page from the script overlaid with a script page and an image of Jason Mewes and Smith as Jay and Silent Bob.

In the post with the original movie announcement, Smith revealed what his next movie was going to be about. He said that he originally wanted to make Clerks III, but said that one of the principle cast members backed out. He also tried make Mallrats 2 but ended up developing it into a TV series that never got off the ground.

Those misfires led to Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. This isn't a reboot of the duo's previous movie, 2001's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,  but it's the story of Jay and Silent Bob learning that Hollywood is making a reboot of their fictional heroes, Bluntman & Chronic. In that film, the duo race to Hollywood to stop that movie from being made, and they seem set to follow a similar trail in this new film.

Smith has said that the movie will make fun of Hollywood's obsession with reboots and remakes while featuring plenty of the View Askewniverse's signature cameos.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is directed by Kevin Smith and will star Smith and Jason Mewes as the title characters. The film does not currently have a release date.
