Aquaman actor Jason Momoa will trade his trident for an ax in the action-thriller "Braven," Variety reports.

Helmed by stuntman turned director Lin Oeding, the film stars Momoa as a logger living on the U.S./Canada border who's confronted by a group of deadly drug runners and must do everything he can to protect his family.

It's written by Thomas Pa’a Sibbett from an original story by Mike Nilon. Momoa and Brian Mendoza will produce under their Pride of Gypsies banner, alongside Nilon and Molly Hassell.

Momoa, who recently dropped out of Antoine Fuqua's remake of "The Magnificent Seven," will appear as Aquaman next year in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," a role he'll reprise in "Justice League" and a 2018 solo film.
