Aquaman actor Jason Momoa has just teased his involvement in a future, undisclosed DC Universe project.

In an Instagram Story, the actor shared that he had recently received some great news from Warner Bros. regarding his future in the DCU. "Four years ago, I had the jeep out front… Y’all remember four years ago? I was screaming, wasn’t I? … Screaming when I left Warner Bros. Everybody ready?," the actor asked before shouting, "YAHOO!" He continued, "Four years again. It’s a mystery, baby… I’ve got some really good news. Great news with Warner Bros. Amazing. Wish I could tell you, but here it is. Peter [Safran], I love you. James [Gunn], I love you. David [Zaslav]. Okay. To the future, to the future."

Although Momoa did not share the "great news" he received from DC and WB, recent reports suggest that the news is tied to the actor's rumored involvement in a Lobo project. Momoa, who currently plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the DCU, is an avowed fan of the cigar-chomping cosmic antihero who first appeared in DC Comics' Omega Men #3 in 1983. Since James Gunn and Peter Safran were named co-heads of DC Studios, there have been rumors that Gunn and Momoa would be bringing Lobo to the big screen, with the duo themselves publicly teasing the idea.

Is Momoa Playing Lobo in the DCU?

Momoa first hinted that he was developing a mystery DC project with Gunn in November 2022, telling CBR in an interview, "I’m just happy that [James] Gunn is at the helm and [Peter] Safran, who is just like my heart. So I'm in good hands and I think comic book fans around the world are going to be very excited. It's definitely something I've collected my whole life. So, for all the fans who know me will know that I collect this comic book the most. So without giving you anything, if you’re a real fan you’d know what I collect the most, and you can go back in history to find out what I collect the most." Rumors of a DCU project involving Lobo first emerged after Gunn posted a picture of the character on the social media platform Mastodon.

So far, Gunn has only announced one project -- a new Superman movie that he will script -- that will be part of the first slate of DCU titles developed under the new DC Studios leadership. However, he is expected to announce further projects by the end of January.

Meanwhile, DC fans will see Momoa's Aquaman back on the big screen in the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which finds the title character reluctantly teaming up with his half-brother Orm to face a stronger Black Manta and his army. Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison and Nicole Kidman also star in the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 25, as the final DC film developed under the old regime.
