Jason Momoa shared new details about the character he'll portray in the upcoming tenth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise.

"I'm gonna go do Fast 10, that's gonna be fun. Do something, small, independent over in London," Momoa told Entertainment Tonight about his next project during a red carpet appearance at the premiere of The Batman. "It's fun, I get to play the bad guy, which I haven't gotten to do for a while. Now, I get to be the bad boy. A very flamboyant bad boy. A little panache!"

It was announced back in January that Momoa had joined the Fast franchise as a new antagonist. "The Fast Fam keeps getting bigger. Welcome, Jason Momoa," the franchise's team said in an official announcement on Twitter. The Aquaman star notably joined the cast shortly after Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson refused a public request from Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel that he reprise the role of Luke Hobbs in the final two films.

"This past June, when Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly—and privately—that I would not be returning to the franchise," Johnson said. "I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return. I privately spoke with my partners at Universal as well, all of whom were very supportive as they understand the problem."

Fast 10 will be the first of a two-part final installment in the Fast Saga from director Justin Lin. Diesel, who has portrayed Dom Toretto since 2001's The Fast and the Furious, explained in 2020 why they decided to split the final story across two films. "The universe is so robust and so rich with talent and rich with story that, on one level, it's totally feasible to have spinoffs, and I think that’s something that is inevitable," the actor said. "Universal deserves it because of how much they've invested in this little saga, and it'd be good to give back to Universal. And for the fans, should Fast 10 parts one and two be the conclusion, it would be nice for this world to continue for generations to come."

Diesel confirmed in early February that principal photography on Fast 10 would begin shortly, as well as teased a number of "great cast additions." While the actor didn't share the names of any new cast members, it's believed Fast 10 will also see the return of John Cena as Jakob Toretto, Charlize Theron as Cipher and Cardi B as Leysa.

Directed by Justin Lin, Fast & Furious 10 races into theaters May 19, 2023.
