Dune's Jason Momoa has confirmed that he and co-star Dave Bautista actually have a plan to make their buddy cop movie idea a reality.

As reported in THR, Momoa appeared on The Late, Late Show with James Corden, where Corden explained the recent buzz surrounding a tweet Bautista wrote on August 19 about his desire to do "a Lethal Weapon-style buddy cop movie" with Momoa. When asked whether he'd want to be a part of that film, Momoa replied that Bautista "literally texted me four days ago, going, 'We need to do a buddy cop film. We love each other. We are on See and Dune together.' And I said, 'Absolutely.' And he said, 'Let's do it in Hawaii.' And I said, 'Let's do it. I have an idea.' So it's off to the races now. We're doing it."

When Corden pointed out how this pitch demonstrates his and Bautista's star power, Momoa agreed that he felt that it played to their strengths. "It sells itself," the Aquaman star continued. "Dave loves wearing Speedos. I love wearing board shorts. Ya know, both of us with our shirts off. You know, buddy cop show."

Momoa even went into details for their respective character traits: "He'll be grumpy and I'll be charming. Boom. It sells itself, bro. I have the hair. He doesn't have hair. We cover all the demographics."

Momoa and Bautista's next pairing will be in the second season of Apple TV+'s post-apocalyptic show See, with Bautista joining the cast as Baba Voss' estranged, antagonistic brother Edo. In Dune, the actors play Duncan Idaho, swordmaster of House Atreides, and Glossu Rabban, servant and nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard) respectively. Bautista also has prior experience starring in buddy cop films, having partnered with Kumail Nanjiani for 2019's Stuber.

In addition to those projects, Momoa's latest film, Sweet Girl, is currently playing on Netflix. He's also working on his next DC Extended Universe film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which director James Wan has described as tonally influenced by Planet of the Vampires.

See season 2 premieres Aug. 27 on Apple TV+. Dune arrives in theaters and will stream on HBO Max for a limited period on Oct. 22.
