Conan the Barbarian star Jason Momoa recently admitted that even he thinks the 2011 box office bomb wasn't very good.

Momoa shared his brutally honest appraisal of the film, which was inspired by Robert E. Howard's classic Conan first published in pulp magazines, in an interview with GQ. "I've been a part of a lot of things that really sucked, and movies where it's out of your hands," Momoa told the publication. "[Conan the Barbarian] was one of them. It's one of the best experiences I had and it [was] taken over and turned into a big pile of shit."

While Conan the Barbarian opened to negative reviews and underwhelming ticket sales, Momoa also enjoyed great success that same year when he starred as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones Season 1. The American actor's small screen popularity later landed him the part of Arthur Curry/Aquaman, a key role in the DC Extended Universe. Momoa portrayed the superhero in two DCEU films, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, before headlining his own solo Aquaman movie which grossed over $1 billion. A sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, is currently in the works and is rumored to reunite Momoa with his Justice League co-star Ben Affleck.

Jason Momoa Maintains a High Profile

Momoa is also the lead actor in Apple TV+ sci-fi drama See, in which he portrays formidable warrior Baba Voss. See premiered in 2019 and will conclude with its third and final season, which arrives on Aug. 26, 2022. Momoa's other recent high-profile acting credits include Denis Villeneuve's Best Picture-nominated adaptation of Dune, which saw him play key supporting character Duncan Idaho. The star isn't expected to return for Dune: Part Two, which began filming in July 2022, as Idaho went out in a blaze of glory in the first movie.

Momoa continues to make headlines for more than just his big and small screen projects, though. The actor was recently involved in a traffic incident in which his car collided head-on with a motorcycle. Momoa was apparently uninjured by the collision, which police reports indicate happened after the motorcycle crossed into Momoa's lane while turning a corner. The motorcyclist apparently suffered only minor injuries and sources say that Momoa hurried to his side and flagged down a fellow motorist to call an ambulance.

Momoa also courted controversy after he posed for photos in the Sistine Chapel during a break in filming on Fast X. The star subsequently apologized for the incident, insisting that he "would never want to do anything to disrespect someone’s culture."
