Just hours after confirming Shannen Doherty's involvement in "Mall Rats 2," Kevin Smith has made a casting announcement that will likely surprise no one: Jason Lee will reprise his role as Brodie in the sequel to the 1995 romantic comedy.

"Mallrats" marked the first major movie role for Lee, a professional skateboarder who went on to appear in six more of Smith's films, including "Chasing Amy," "Dogma," "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and "Clerks II."

Lee, whose other credits include "My Name Is Earl," "Memphis Beat" and the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movie franchise, joins Doherty and other returning cast members Michael Rooker, Jason Mewes, Stan Lee and Smith.

"6 down, 6 to go!" Smith trumpeted. "Collect 'em all!"

"Mallrats 2" begins production next spring.
