Jason Dohring will return as Logan Echolls, TVLine reports.

The Veronica Mars actor who played one of the show's more complex characters will join his fellow alum Kristen Bell in the film being funded by a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign.

The series starred Bell as snarky Neptune, California, teen Veronica Mars, who worked as an assistant in her father's private investigation business. Each episode would see Veronica solve a smaller mystery for one of her peers, while also getting closer to figuring out the season’s big mystery. Veronica Mars originally aired on UPN in 2004 and made the jump to The CW when that network was created by mashing up UPN and The WB. The drama lasted three seasons and went off the air in 2007.

At this point, the Kickstarter campaign has made more than twice the original goal of $2 million, and sits at about $4.5 million right now with nine days to go. According to series creator Rob Thomas, the film revolves around Echolls' pop-star girlfriend getting murdered and Veronica trying to figure out what really happened during their 10-year high school reunion. The only other actor signed up for the film? The person who pledged $10,000 for a waiter spot with one key line: "Your check, sir."

Since Mars went off the air in 2007, Dohring's been working here and there in film and television with extended roles on Moonlight and Ringer. Production on Veronica Mars will begin as soon as the Kickstarter campaign ends, so expect to see plenty of more casting announcements in the next few weeks.
