It's the end of an era. Longtime Thor scribe Jason Aaron will begin the final act of his God of Thunder epic this coming August.

The news comes out of Marvel's official solicitations for the month, which reveals that Thor #16 will  be "the kickoff of Jason Aaron’s final Thor story."

Aaron began his long-running saga in 2012, with Thor: God of Thunder #1, which was illustrated by Esad Ribic. Since then, Aaron has guided Thor through the "Last Days of Midgard," the loss of his hammer and title, the rise of Jane Foster's Thor, and, finally, the currently-unfolding War of the Realms.

As evidenced by the solicit description, which mentions that even the unreleased cover is too much of a spoiler to share at this time, the details of this final story are being kept under wraps until the conclusion of War of the Realms event.
