Ewan McGregor's former Star Wars co-star is happy to see his colleague return to his best-known role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks in the franchise's three prequels, expressed his joy on Twitter.
Best shared a link to a story in Variety that confirmed McGregor was reprising the role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in an upcoming series on Disney+. "As well he should. Congrats my brother," Best tweeted.
McGregor and Best played their respective roles together in three Star Wars films: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Best's role diminished as the story of Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader progressed, but McGregor's character remained integral to the story right up until the end.

2005's Revenge of the Sith was the last time McGregor played Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor had long been rumored to return to the role in a possible spinoff film, but the project has not yet materialized.
The series joins two other Star Wars shows on Disney+: Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian starring Pedro Pascal, as well as a Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spin-featuring Diego Luna's character Cassian Andor.
Aside from McGregor's casting, there have been no other details announced about the upcoming series. There has also been no mention of Best potentially reprising his role as Jar Jar Binks alongside McGregor.
