Actor Jamie Lee Curtis, who has a lot of experience in the horror genre, has seemingly set her sights on a central role in Universal Pictures' upcoming Exorcist sequel. Curtis recently revealed that she is keen on playing none other than the Devil.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Curtis explained that her parents screened the The Exorcist from a young age and that the movie succeeded in scaring her. She also explained that because of it, she is averse to horror films, which is why she would be perfect for the role of the Devil. "Maybe I should be the voice of the devil like Mercedes McCambridge," the actor said. "You see, if David gives me a part in the new Exorcist trilogy as the voice of the devil, then it is a full-circle return for me, in a meta way. That would blow people's minds."

Curtis already has support from Halloween Kills director David Gordon Green, who is also attached to the upcoming Exorcist sequel, Green stated that she hadn't mentioned it to him, but added, "I'll have to get her to audition for that one. You know, she did the crying baby for the last Halloween movie, so she's a talented voice actor as well."

Green will serve as director on the project, which is being produced by Blumhouse Productions and Morgan Creek Entertainment. It was originally believed to be a reboot and in response to the backlash from longtime fans of the original Exorcist, Morgan Creek stated on social media, "For the record, we will never attempt to remake THE EXORCIST." This came shortly after rumors circulated that William Friedkin, director of the original film, would be involved in a reboot. Friedkin quickly shot these rumors down, stating outright, "This isn't a rumor, it's a flat-out lie. There's not enough money or motivation in the world to get me to do this."
