Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx will play Little John in Lionsgate's "Robin Hood: Origins."

He'll join "Kingsman: The Secret Service" star Taron Egerton and "The Knick's" Eve Hewson in the gritting reimagining from “Peaky Blinders” director Otto Bathurst.

According to Deadline, Foxx's Little John is a "battle-hardened but war-weary veteran of the Crusades" who starts out distrustful of young Robin, as they fought on opposite sides, but eventually warms up to the hero.

In Bathurst's revisionist take on the story, written by Joby Harold ("Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur"), Robin Hood returns from the Crusades to discover Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption. In this gritty take, he forms a band of outlaws to deliver vigilante justice.
