Appearing in Fox's original X-Men trilogy, James Marsden was the first actor to play a live-action version of the popular X-Men character, Scott Summers/Cyclops. Though Marsden is currently busy promoting the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film, he revealed he's open to playing another mutant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor was recently asked by Comicbook.com if he would consider returning to the world of the X-Men. "Sure," Marsden said. "It might be weird to be one thing to sort of rejoin Marvel or rejoin DC or something like that, but to actually rejoin X-Men as a different character might feel a little strange. But I would be open to it."

Marsden went on to share his gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of the X-Men films. "I mean, that was a world I have great respect for and [I'm] very grateful to be a part of that family for a long period of time," he said. "It's one of those special moments in my career and I would totally be open to that."

Disney recently acquired several 21st Century Fox movie properties, which include the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. While fans are hoping to see mutants on-screen soon, there is no official work on when they will join the MCU.

Opening Feb. 14, director Jeff Fowler's Sonic the Hedgehog stars Ben Schwartz as Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, with James Marsden, Neal McDonald, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally and Natasha Rothwell.
