Sonic The Hedgehog star James Marsden knows what he wants to see in a potential sequel.

Marsden wants to pick up where the movie's post-credits scene left off and bring the fan-favorite character Tails into Sonic 2. "Well, I think we'd do a lot more of the same, but we would probably hopefully throw even more set pieces in there and more action sequences," Marsden told ComicBook.com. "I think we'd hopefully introduce some new characters, some beloved characters from the video game. If you stayed through the credits, you saw a little introduction to Tails. Hoping we'd see Tails come in."

"You know, who knows? The good thing is, is that hopefully when we come back to earth after this thing and we're still making movies, that Paramount will really fire it up again, and we'll just have double the fun," he added.

During a mid-credits sequence, Tails emerged from a ring portal and began searching for Sonic on Earth. Marsden's words also echo what Fowler previously said about wanting to see Sonic and Tails' bromance blossom in a possible Sonic 2.

Paramount has not yet given Sonic 2 the green light. Given Sonic's impressive box office, which made it the highest-grossing video game movie of all time, a sequel will likely be announced following disruptions caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Helmed by Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog stars Ben Schwartz as Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, with James Marsden, Neal McDonald, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally and Natasha Rothwell.
