If you're of the opinion that "Guardians of the Galaxy's" villainous Nebula deserves a movie of her own, you should know you're not the only one. In fact, director James Gunn says he's already contemplated it.

Replying to a fan who expressed a desire for a Nebula movie, starring Karen Gillan, the filmmaker added his endorsement:

I have a few favorites myself, but I agree that Nebula should lead her own film - it's something I've thought about from the beginning. https://t.co/lyPAA6Hyxw

No movie appears to be in the works, although the director notes that he believes Nebula is deserving of a solo adventure. For now at least, audiences wanting to see more of the character can look forward to Marvel Studios' "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which arrives May 5, 2017.

Although the 2014 hit mostly saw Nebula clash with her adopted sister Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana, the sequel is set to further explore their relationship. Exactly how that takes place is still unknown.

There may be some hostility between the two following their confrontation at the end of "Guardians of the Galaxy." There may also be an opportunity for some measure of sibling bonding as well. Perhaps Nebula will even become an unlikely ally.

Written and directed by Gunn, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" also stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.
