A few days ago, famed director Martin Scorsese dismissed Marvel films, saying they were more like theme parks than actual cinema. Scorsese's comments sparked some backlash from both fans and other filmmakers. James Gunn -- writer and director of both Guardians of the Galaxy films -- recently weighed in on Scorsese's comments."Martin Scorsese is one of my 5 favorite living filmmakers," Gunn said on Twitter. "I was outraged when people picketed The Last Temptation of Christ without having seen the film. I’m saddened that he’s now judging my films in the same way."RELATED: Samuel L. Jackson Responds to Martin Scorsese's Marvel CommentsThough disappointed in Scorsese's comments, Gunn still seems to hold the same admiration for the director. "That said, I will always love Scorsese, be grateful for his contribution to cinema, and can’t wait to see The Irishman."

Gunn is set to write and direct the third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy. In addition to his work with Guardians, Gunn also served as an executive producer on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
