DC Studios co-chair and co-CEO James Gunn just clarified his recent statement about the possibility of a crossover between the DC Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.Gunn set the record straight regarding a potential collaboration between DC Studios and rival production company Marvel Studios during a red carpet interview with Deadline. "I think that [a DCU/MCU crossover] would look like something that would be happening in about 10 years," he said. "Not today, because we have a whole bunch of other DC movies we need to tell. But yeah, I think it could be cool." This tracks with Gunn's previously stated position, which is that while the two studios have discussed a DCU/MCU crossover, such a project is likely "many years away" from happening.Related: An Underrated Hero as Powerful as Superman is Perfect For the DCU

That doesn't mean fans shouldn't expect to see any overlap between the DCU and MCU in the immediate future. Notably, Gunn recently indicated that he's eager to find a place in the DCU for the cast of his latest (and for the time being, last) MCU project, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. "I cannot tell you how close I am to Chris Pratt and Pom [Klementieff] and Dave [Bautista] and Zoe [Saldaña] and Karen [Gillan]," he said. "But I also know I will work again with all those people individually again. Probably at my other job [laughs]." These comments sparked speculation among fans regarding who Pratt, Klementieff, Saldaña and Gillan could play in the DCU, with Pratt's suitability for the Booster Gold role provoking especially heated debate.

Is Pom Klementieff Joining the DCU?

That said, Pratt isn't necessarily the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star closest to jumping ship for the DCU. Instead, Klementieff is the current frontrunner, after she revealed she's currently in talks with DC Studios to portray an unspecified character. "I'm not gonna tell you guys, but we've had conversations and we're making plans already. But nothing is confirmed yet," Klementieff. While the French actor declined to say which part she was up for, she did divulge that she was familiar with this character prior to meeting with DC and thought they were "fucking cool."

It's not known at this stage whether Klementieff is the only Guardians of the Galaxy franchise veteran in talks to join the DCU, although Gillan made it clear that she'll jump at the opportunity if offered. Gillan put herself forward for the role of iconic Batman villain Poison Ivy in a recent interview, before adding that she would happily portray a background character if it meant she got to work with Gunn again.
