Well, that didn't take long! Just a few hours after we initially reported on the possible official title of "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," writer/director James Gunn has went on ahead and confirmed the film's name on his Facebook page. Just like Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige accidentally revealed, the film will be titled "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

Yes, the official title of the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.Kevin Feige...Posted by James Gunn onMonday, June 29, 2015

The above image shows how a few super sleuths figured out how many characters were in the full title and is followed by a caption wherein Gunn reveals the full title. Later on in the Facebook comments, Gunn -- who also co-wrote and directed "Guardians of the Galaxy" -- explains where the straightforward title came from.

"I came up with a LOT of titles for Vol. 2. But because 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is already so wordy, it seemed strange to add another bunch of words after it," explained Gunn in the comment. "I liked Vol. 2 the best, so that's what I stuck on the cover of the screenplay - and, fortunately, the guys liked it."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" opens on May 5, 2017.
