One of the most memorable parts of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was the film's opening, which featured the team of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax and Rocket Raccoon fighting a giant, tentacled monster at the behest of the Soveriegn, all while a diminutive Groot danced his way around the battlefield to the tune of Electric Light Orchestra's "Mr. Blue Sky."

The dance scene was choreographed by director James Gunn himself, recorded by producer Simon Hatt on an iPhone and later transformed into the joyous opening jig. Guardians fans now have their first look at that iPhone recording.

Gunn today uploaded a brief clip from the impromptu dance session-turned-movie opening to his Instagram account. The video overlays Gunn's dance sequence on top of Groot's dance from the film, showing how the director's movements were transposed onto the mischievous, childlike alien.

The video itself is mere seconds long, while the dance scene from the film stretches for several minutes. That can only mean one thing: there's more James Gunn Groot dancing to be had. Hopefully the full video will make its way onto the Guardians 2 home release. Groot fans – and Gunn fans – can only hope.
