DC Studios co-chair and co-CEO James Gunn has addressed recent reports that Wonder Woman 3, Man of Steel 2 and other legacy DC Universe characters and projects had been scrapped. In a statement shared on Twitter, Gunn wrote, "So. As for the story yesterday in the Hollywood Reporter, some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, [and] some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not." Gunn is referring to a report from The Hollywood Reporter that stated several legacy DCU sequels, including Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3 and a proper Man of Steel sequel, had been canceled for not aligning with Gunn and Safran's new (and developing) vision for the shared universe. Unfortunately for fans, Gunn has not stated which parts of the report were true and which were not, leaving them to patiently wait for further clarification from the DC Studios boss.RELATED: The Batman Fans Want James Gunn to Build His DCU Off of Matt Reeves' Film

The DC Studios head continued his statement by letting the fans know that he was aware Safran and he "were coming into a fractious environment, both in the stories being told [and] in the audience itself [and] there would be an unavoidable transitional period as we moved into telling a cohesive story across film, TV, animation, and gaming. But, in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities [and] the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far [and] to help rectify what has not."

Gunn Admits the New DCU Will Not Please Everyone

While Gunn has previously teased DC Comics characters and storylines that could potentially make their way into the DCU, he has not officially revealed his long-term roadmap for the DCU. However, Gunn shared in his statement that he is aware their plans for the DCU will not "make every single person happy every step of the way, but we can promise everything we do is done in the service of the STORY [and] in the service of the DC CHARACTERS we know you cherish and we have cherished our whole lives."

Gunn finished addressing the reports by assuring the fans that Safran and he "are giving these characters [and] the stories the time [and] attention they deserve" and that he hopes that fans can understand that they will have to wait before learning more about the future of the DCU. Gunn and Safran are expected to present their "DC Universe Bible" to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav sometime next week.
