As indicated in the Tweet, Lynch is not creating a new or rebooted version of James Bond. She is playing Nomi, who takes the number and role of Bond when he leaves active service. No Time to Die will once again feature Daniel Craig as the iconic character, as he gets called out of retirement by his friend Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) to rescue an abducted scientist. A video from the 007 website back in June featured Craig, Wright and Lynch filming together in the Caribbean.

Her casting has received various commentary from Bond series alumni. While previous 007 Pierce Brosnan was all-for the choice, former Bond girl Valerie Leon was despondent that a man would not be filling the role.
