Henry Cavill says he's open to playing James Bond -- or one of his antagonists.During an interview on The Movie Dweeb, host Daniel Merrifield avoided asking the actor about whether he'd take up the mantle of Agent 007. Instead, Merrifield asked if Cavill would ever consider joining the iconic spy franchise as one of its villains. "If Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G. Wilson] are interested me in any capacity to be a part of their movies, then I will gladly have that discussion with them, and that would be something I'd be very keen to explore further," he said.RELATED: Blofeld vs Blofeld: How Each Version of Bond's Greatest Villain Stacks Up

With Daniel Craig announcing he's stepping down from playing Bond after his upcoming fifth outing, No Time to Die, speculation is high as to who will be the new 007. The aforementioned producers Broccoli and Wilson have said their search for a new star won't begin in earnest until 2022, as "We want Daniel to have his time of celebration.”

As far as Craig is concerned, he's happy to end his tenure as he sees fit, but will be perturbed when a successor is announced. "It’s been incredible to do these films," Craig recently explained. "It’s very emotional. I’m glad I am ending it on my own terms. I’m grateful to the producers for letting me do that. But I sure miss it. I’ll probably be incredibly bitter when the new person takes over."

No Time to Die hits theaters on Oct. 8.
