Bookies believe The Witcher star Henry Cavill has the best chance of being the next actor to ask for his martini shaken, not stirred.

According to VegasInsider.com, which has monitored odds data of more than 20 bookmakers and created an average on who will be the next 007, Cavill is currently in the first spot as the most likely pick to take over as the iconic superspy. The actor, who is also known for portraying Superman in the DC Extended Universe, surpassed Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page for the top spot with odds of 427/160, an implied probability of 27.26%. Page, who remains a fan favorite to take on the role of James Bond, is now in second place with odds of 347/80 or an implied probability of 18.73%.

Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and James Norton round out the top five. Elba remains high with the bookies despite reports that the actor has dropped out of the running for the next 007. While it is unknown if Elba is still interested in playing Bond, the actor has made it clear that he is tired of being asked about playing the character. "I have no more answers for it. I just tell people 'aw, don't ask me that.' Because a lot of times it's really lazy journalism," Elba recently explained. "And people try to use it as clickbait like 'what's he gonna say this time?' I try to say the same things. Every now and then I just tease them, but every now and then I'll give them some philosophy on why I don't want to do it or why it's a rumor. But most times now I tend not to talk about it."

Eon Is Looking for a Younger 007

Eon Productions, who produces the James Bond film series, has not officially cast the next James Bond yet, but rumors have suggested that the Bond producers are looking for "someone probably in their 30s" to take on the role of 007 in the currently untitled Bond 26. Two actors who have jumped to the top of the odds and fit that age window are Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington and Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey, who are 35 and 34 years old, respectively. Other names that have been thrown out by fans include John Boyega, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Henry Golding, among others.

Daniel Craig was the sixth actor to portray 007 in Eon-produced films, with his tenure spanning from 2006 to 2021. Previous actors to portray the iconic spy for Eon include Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan.

Bond 26 does not have a release date at this time.
