Despite being described as a "total reboot" of its franchise, director James Gunn's upcoming DC film The Suicide Squad will feature multiple returning cast members from David Ayer's Suicide Squad. As previously reported, one such actor is Jai Courtney, who played the role of George "Digger" Harkness/Captain Boomerang in the 2016 film.

In a new interview, Courtney doubled down on his confirmation that he was a part of the new film, as well as spoke to the enthusiasm he feels in regard to reprising his role as the Australian supervillain.

"I said it the other day in an interview and I felt like I let the cat out of the bag," Courtney told The Hollywood Reporter. "I haven't been sworn to secrecy about it so I guess it's okay to say that I will be [in the movie]."

From there, they Sydney-born actor explained that he was excited about "just getting back with the gang and mixing it up."

"I loved playing Captain Boomerang," he continued. "It's just like a rocker's nightmare. Just looking forward to reprising that and getting the gold tooth back in and getting after it."

In addition to Courtney reprising his role as Captain Boomerang, it is currently expected that Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman will return to the DC Extended Universe as Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller and Rick Flag, respectively.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters on August 6, 2021.
