Hugh Jackman as "The Wolverine"Hugh Jackman gave fans a small, pre-Christmas treat in an interview with Parade Magazine, revealing a few spoilers from next year's "The Wolverine."

"Okay, the movie takes place after 'X-Men: The Last Stand,'" he told interviewer Jeanne Wolf. "My character is at his lowest. He is supposed to be able to heal himself, but he may encounter someone who has worked out a way to really hurt him. And there is a cameo from one of the past X-Men in it."

Jackman also talked about playing Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables," which opens Christmas day, and the fact that "The Wolverine" image released in September is indeed all him. "I keep thinking, 'Come on, you spend millions on CGI, can't you throw a quarter million my way for visual effects so I can eat pizza and drink beer and still look great?' No, I had to do it the hard way. Let me tell you, at 44 it's not getting easier."

Directed by James Mangold ("3:10 to Yuma," "Walk the Line"), "The Wolverine" is based in part on the 1982 miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, and finds Logan as an outsider in Japan, where he must battle ninjas, Silver Samurai and the politics of the Tokyo criminal underworld for the heart of his ex-lover Mariko Yashida, daughter of a Japanese crime lord. Jackman is joined by a cast that includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Yun Lee, Brian Tee and Naoya Ogawa. "The Wolverine" opens July 26, 2013.
