Jack Thorne Tapped To Script “The Sandman”

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has found its screenwriter for Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s “Sandman” movie adaptation. Jack Thorne, whose previous writing credits include additional material for “How I Live Now” and upcoming film “A Long Way Down,” will script the DC Comics adaptation based on David S. Goyer’s pitch. No other details were revealed.

News of Neil Gaiman‘s beloved Vertigo comic book epic getting a film adaptation hit in December with Gordon-Levitt’s name attached with an eye to possibly direct and star. He is currently onboard as a producer alongside Goyer and Gaiman.

“The Sandman” originally debuted in 1988 and ran for 75 issues, ending its run in 1996. It was instrumental in the creation of DC’s Vertigo imprint, and Gaiman recently returned to the characters and concepts with the currently-published “Sandman: Overture” miniseries.
