Jack Ryan Movie Loses Its Director

Renowned television director Jack Bender has worked on everything from Profiler and Felicity to Lost and Fox's current sci-fi series Alcatraz but, according to Variety, he will no longer be involved with Paramount Pictures' next Jack Ryan movie.

Bender had been attached to the film, which is set to star Chris Pine as the Tom Clancy-created character formerly played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, since 2010, but had to drop out because of TV commitments like Alcatraz and the upcoming Syfy series Rewind.

Paramount wants to start filming when Pine has completed work on Star Trek 2, so they'll have to get a director on the books relatively soon to make that happen.
