Jack Black, beware! You're in for a scare!

The Tenacious D frontman and Kung Fu Panda star is set to headline a new franchise of his own in Goosebumps, Sony's upcoming adaptation of the R.L. Stine horror novel series. The Wrap reports that Black, who's in negotiations for the film, would star as "a Stine-like author whose scary characters literally leap off the page, forcing him to hide from his own creepy creations."

If Black's deal closes, he'll reunite with his Gulliver's Travels and Shark Tale director Rob Letterman. Neal H. Moritz of the Fast and Furious franchise is set to produce.

This won't be the first time Goosebumps leaps from the page to the screen. A TV series ran from 1995 through 1998, boasting a phenomenal theme song that's just waiting for the Tenacious D treatment.
