"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams revealed that there would be no new footage of the upcoming "Star Wars" installment at D23, though we should expect a new trailer in the fall, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"It is true, we are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise," Abrams explained. "In the fall, there’ll be a trailer."

"We're thrilled to go to D23 and meet the fans, but it’s a tricky thing to try and rush [footage] for a convention or preexisting event that would, of course, be fun to show something at," he added.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens Dec. 18.
