The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have their Acura, Rick Grimes & Co. have their Hyundai, and now the citizens of Gotham are getting their Ford.

Variety reports Fox has signed a promotional deal that not only saw the automaker sponsor a New York City screening of the drama on Monday, but will call for the appearance of Ford cars in episodes of Gotham.

Product placement on television and in films is standard practice, with certain car brands featured prominently in sponsored series. However, the website notes that Gotham's stylized, "retro" setting of the series -- the city is depicted as a mishmash of different eras -- means the Ford vehicles viewers see may not always be new models. Indeed, the car parked outside the New York Public Library for Monday's event was a vintage sedan.

Premiering Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle and David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne.
