Is Warner Bros. suing lawyer Marc Toberoff because of truth, justice and the American Way, or is it simply a last ditch attempt to defend their claim to the Superman copyright? The answer maybe somewhere in between the two...

The Hollywood Reporter's THR, Esq. blog looks at the merits of Warners' lawsuit against the man representing the families of Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in claims to regain the character's copyright, and finds that their claim that Toberoff "improperly convinced" the families to sue may backfire; thanks to California law, the corporation may be required to defend their claim and then, if unable to do so, demonstrate that it can win the larger, original lawsuit to maintain the Superman copyright, in order to keep their case from being thrown out. Is their legal team prepared to do both things before October's planned hearing? And if things don't go their way, is DC Entertainment ready to halt pre-production on the Chris Nolan Superman movie...? This may be a job for... Wait, he might be busy wandering across the country...
