David Robert Mitchell, writer and director of the 2014 indie horror film "It Follows," is developing a crime series with Universal Cable Productions. It marks his first entry into television.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the drama, titled "Mr. Postman," follows a mail carrier who investigates dark mysteries in an all-American town after a horrific event unfolds on his own street.

Mitchell, who made his feature debut in 2010 with "The Myth of the American Sleepover," will direct and executive produce alongside Chris Bender, J.C. Spink and Jake Weiner of Benderspink.The filmmaker earned critical acclaim with "It Follows," which grossed $15.5 million on a $2 million budget.
