Yahoo! Movies has premiered an intriguing new television ad for Super 8, the enigmatic sci-fi movie from writer/director J.J. Abrams and executive producer Steven Spielberg.
The website also expands a little on the film's sparse synopsis, offering this description: "The year is 1979. Joe Lamb, son of an Ohio sheriff's deputy, is helping his friend Charles finish a zombie movie on a Super 8 camera when a nighttime shoot near the train tracks changes their lives forever. The train, carrying cargo from Area 51, derails in a storm of fire and shredded metal ... and something escapes the wreckage. As people begin to disappear and unexplained phenomena crop up all over town, Joe's father investigates a terrifying truth that Joe himself already understands all too well."
Super 8, which opens on June 10, stars Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Amanda Michalka and Zach Mills.
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
