Warner Bros. this week stealthily registered dozens of domain names, leading to speculation the studio is considering other titles for director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel.

Although screenwriter David S. Goyer, crew members and just about everybody else have referred to the film as Batman Vs. Superman, Fusible picked up on the registrations, which include:

“Man of Steel Battle the Knight,” “Man of Steel Beyond Darkness,” “Man of Steel Black of Knight,” “Man of Steel Darkness Falls,” “Man of Steel Knight Falls,” “Man of Steel Shadow of the Night,” “Man of Steel The Blackest Hour” and “Man of Steel The Darkness Within."

Presumably, any of those titles would include a colon or even a dash (e.g. Man of Steel: Beyond Darkness). The website also notices shorter variations were also registered, including “Battle the Knight,” “Black of Knight,” “Knight Falls” and “The Blackest Hour."

It's certainly arguable whether Man of Steel: The Darkness Within or, well, any of those, is stronger than the more straightforward Batman Vs. Superman, which also has the benefit of including the name of a character who for nearly a decade has been more bankable than the Last Son of Krypton.

Of course, there's also the possibility that none of those titles has nothing (or at least little) to do with the Man of Steel sequel; there are also console and mobile games and direct-to-DVD animated movies to consider.

Warner Bros. recently filed a trademark application for "Nightwing," further fueling rumors that an adult Dick Grayson will appear in the film (for what it's worth, the actor said to be the frontrunner for the role has denied any knowledge). That led The Hollywood Reporter to note the studio's "aggressive" nature when it comes to staking out legal territory, a tendency that sometimes reveals its movie plans.

No matter what it's named, the Man of Steel sequel opens July 17, 2015, with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in the lead roles.
