Is Tim Burton Headed For Monsterpocalypse?

Tim Burton and screenwriting partner John August may be about to turn cinema ugly. Or, at least, they might be planning one big Monsterpocalypse.

The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog is saying that both Burton and August (who worked together on Big Fish and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, amongst other projects) have been separately circling Dreamworks' planned adaptation of Matt Wilson's game, with August apparently in final negotiations to write the script. Dare I hope for a monster-centric version of Burton's wonderful Mars Attacks?

If both sign on, this'll be the second project they'll be working on together at the same time; both are also involved in the 3D full-length version of Burton's short film, Frankenweenie, at Disney.
