With the first look at J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens -- all 88 seconds of it! -- arriving Friday in select theaters, it may seem a little early to be looking ahead to the spinoffs. But we are, as Slashfilm has floated an enticing rumor about the plot of the announced film from Gareth Edwards and Gary Whitta.

According to the site's source, the film will be set just prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope and center on group of bounty hunters attempting to steal the plans for the first Death Star. There's no the bounty hunters' employer, but it would make sense that the Rebels hire them to get the plans and eventually deliver them to Princess Leia.

When the spinoffs were announced, early rumors pointed a Boba Fett movie as a possibility. Although Slashfilm says the Mandalorian wasn't specifically mentioned in their conversations with sources, his presence would make sense, given the plot. The site also suggests that Max Von Sydow's character in The Force Awakens might be the star of the spinoff, albeit separated by decades.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives Dec. 18, 2015, followed Dec. 12, 2016, by the first spinoff.
