It's been a long, hard journey for Sony Pictures' planned adaptation of "Masters of the Universe," which has a new draft -- courtesy of "Kick-Ass 2" screenwriter Jeff Wadlow -- but still no director. However, fans searching for a positive sign about the film's development may have found one in what appears to be concept art of Battle Cat.

The image was revealed last night on Twitter by DeVon Franklin, senior vice president of production at Columbia Pictures, who, when asked for an update about "Masters of the Universe," replied: "will know more soon. New chairman at Sony, gotta get in sync with the studio. As soon as I know I'll report back."

Responding to a fan's assertion that, considering the blockbuster performance of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," there's no reason "Masters of the Universe" can't do as well, Franklin offered:

@danmillerNY @TheOneHansen @Guardians I totally agree!!! pic.twitter.com/6g6W18D9J7— DeVon Franklin (@DeVonFranklin) March 3, 2015

Unfortunately, he provided no follow-up or clarification. However, it's difficult to imagine the image is anything other than concept art for He-Man's faithful companion.
