When fans first saw Beerus give a Super Saiyan 3 Goku the smackdown of a lifetime, it became immediately clear that Beerus was one of the franchise's strongest characters. Dragon Ball Super has only provided more evidence to this claim. He's performed unthinkable feats like negating a sphere of Energy of Destruction just by blowing on it or destroying half a planet with just one finger, and while many fans might think that Goku has a long way to go if he hopes to surpass Beerus, others feel as though the Tournament of Power has demonstrated that he's already done just that.

Regardless, this won't ever be known for certain until the two get their inevitable rematch, but Goku already has a few things going in his favor that might play a role in him one day besting the Universe 7's God of Destruction.

10 He Can Ride The Nimbus

While the Flying Nimbus wasn't used as much after the early days of Dragon Ball Z, fans saw it make an appearance in Dragon Ball Super when Goku used it to traverse the Forest of Terror since he couldn't use his own ki to fly.

The Flying Nimbus can only be used by someone pure of heart, and a merciless destroyer like Beerus would've sacrificed his innocence a long time ago. The Nimbus would definitely come in handy if Goku and Beerus's next battle took place somewhere similar to the World of Void, where they'd be unable to take to the skies on their own.

9 Can Use The Spirit Bomb

Goku using a Spirit Bomb in Dragon Ball Z.

Much like the Flying Nimbus, a prerequisite for the Spirit Bomb is that the user must be pure of heart to pull it off. Goku has pretty much mastered the technique, and depending on how much energy he absorbs and from who, he can create a Spirit Bomb mighty enough to defeat foes who are significantly stronger than himself.

If given enough time, he would definitely be able to launch a Spirit Bomb with enough power to obliterate Beerus, especially if any Angels or other Gods of Destruction decided to lend him some of their energy. Because Beerus doesn't have a pure heart, any attempt he makes to utilize this technique might just backfire.

8 Can Use Instant Transmission

Instant Transmission has proved to be one of Goku's most useful techniques. He's even combined this skill with his Kamehameha, enabling him to disorient his opponents before nailing them with a powerful blast at point-blank range.

He performed this exact maneuver on Beerus during their fight in Battle of Gods, proving that while Beerus might be fast, even he couldn't comprehend the speed of Instant Transmission, enabling Goku to effectively exploit his blindspot.

7 Can Become A Fused Character (Via The Fusion Dance)

Anime Goku and Vegeta Performing the Fusion Dance

While the Fusion Dance might look easy, it's actually a complex maneuver that requires both participants to be of the same species, close to one another in size, and essentially mirror one another in position and power level. Using the fusion dance, Goku and Vegeta were able to give birth to Gogeta, who dominated Broly without breaking a sweat.

Beerus, on the other hand, will have some trouble finding someone who not only looks like him, but can match his power level. Even Champa, his twin brother, has a completely different body type that would prohibit them from performing the dance.

6 Can Befriend Zeno

When fans first laid eyes on Zeno, the last thing they thought was that he was the ruler over all things in the multiverse, but Champa and Beerus's fear immediately let fans know that Zeno was no joke. Goku, on the other hand, wasn't fearful of Zeno in the slightest, and befriended him because of this!

Beerus could never hope to form any kind of bond with Zeno since his constant anxiety at the mere mention of his name prevents the God of Destruction from making an ally out of the strongest being in all of Dragon Ball.

5 Can Battle Other Gods Of Destruction

Whis and Vados Stop Champa and Beerus From Fighting

As a God of Destruction, Beerus is prohibited from engaging in serious fights against other Gods of Destruction, since the clash would lead to the collateral destruction of both of their universes. This is quite ironic, since other Gods of Destruction would be the perfect challenge for him to test and hone his skills. Goku, on the other hand, could travel to other universes if he desired, and could test his skills against other Gods of Destruction.

He could probably even defeat a few of the weaker ones like Universe 9's Sidra without any universe being destroyed as a result! Of course the big advantage in this is that Goku can get used to fighting an opponent who wields Energy of Destruction while growing stronger from these battles as a result.

4 Can Participate In The Tournament Of Power

Goku Jumped By Caulifla and Kale

Unlike Goku, who was able to fight other warriors from different universes in the Tournament of Power, Beerus is only limited to whatever mortals exist in his own universe. As of now, there are no warriors in Universe 7 who could push Beerus to new heights. As a God of Destruction, he's prohibited from fighting in an event like the Tournament Of Power since it wouldn't be fair to the other competitors, and wouldn't speak to the proficiency at which he's done his job to ensure that Universe 7 has been home to the best mortals in the multiverse.

Goku, on the other hand, found himself putting new techniques to the test during his fights at the Tournament of Power, and he even had his first experience with Ultra Instinct, which wouldn't have come so soon in his own universe due to how few people there were who could actually push him to that level in a fight. It's because Goku can challenge powerful warriors from other universes that he can continue to grow even when he's surpassed every other person in Universe 7.

3 Can Transform

While fans have yet to see if Beerus has any transformations in store, from the looks of it, he doesn't. This is in stark contrast to a Saiyan like Goku, who can undergo a variety of Super Saiyan transformations, including some that incorporate god ki.

While we don't know if there are new Super Saiyan transformations that Goku has yet to take into, all it would take is one extra Super Saiyan god transformation to close the gap between he and Beerus, and even without one, if he found a way to perfect his Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken, he'd potentially be a match for Universe 7's God of Destruction.

2 Can Attain Zenkai Boosts

As a Saiyan, Goku's body learns from each experience in a phenomenon referred to as a "Zenkai". After taking a significant amount of damage, Goku's power and resilience increases in tandem to how close he came to death. Due to beating himself to near-death on his way to Namek, he was able to attain power that enabled him to go toe-to-toe with Final Form Frieza when just a few weeks prior he was barely a match for Vegeta.

Beerus's body hasn't shown the capacity to learn from experience, most likely because he doesn't come from a thoroughbred warrior race.

1 Can Master Ultra Instinct

After Goku first tapped into the power of Ultra Instinct, Whis himself stated that even Beerus hadn't yet mastered this technique. Goku, on the other hand, figured it out in less than an hour during the Tournament of Power (although he has a long way to go before he masters it).

Since he hasn't put this form to the test against Beerus, fans can only debate if Goku's Ultra Instinct would be enough to take Beerus down, although it's safe to assume that Beerus would have a tougher time defeating Ultra Instinct Goku than he did Super Saiyan God Goku.
