Is Disney Teasing Digital Reissue of 'Star Wars' Films?

Disney is already making the most of its $4.05 billion purchase of Lucasfilm, beginning with the newly launched Stars Wars Rebels animated series, and continuing with a new movie trilogy, spinoffs, and well beyond. But could its plans include reissuing the first six films on digital platforms?

Film Divider caught an Italian television spot for Disney's digital service, whose features include games, apps and movies to enjoy on PC, smartphones and tablets. And to help showcase some of that content, the entertainment giant used footage from Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

On the surface that may not seem like a big deal, but 20th Century Fox owns the worldwide distribution rights to Star Wars: A New Hope, an obstacle to any Disney designs on a series box set. But a digital reissue? Perhaps that's a different matter; perhaps Disney and Fox have reached an agreement. Perhaps.

Unfortunately, a 30-second Italian TV spot doesn't offer much to go on. But here's Film Divider's translation of the voiceover:
