While we've all heard the complaint that too many comic conventions focus too much on Hollywood, the same can't be said of Chromic Con. It's focused on other things. Primarily weed.

Debuting Nov. 22 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Nov. 23 in Denver, the (rather literally) grass-roots event is billed as "the world's first marijuana-friendly comic and fantasy convention." It's the brainchild of Jaymen Johnson, owner of the Speak Easy Vape Lounge in Colorado Springs, who was inspired by his visits to other conventions.

“We would smoke in the hotel before we left, and then we’d get high in the parking lot when we got there, and then we’d find different places around the comic con’s halls to get high while we were there,” he told The Cannabist in June, explaining that the exhausting experience led to an epiphany of sorts. “What if there was a comic con in the same vein of those events that was cannabis-friendly?”

The result is Chromic Con, a 21-and-over private event (you have to know the password to buy a ticket) where you can "smoke marijuana with like-minded people," enjoy live music performances, dancers, and guests like Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911, Justice League: Doom), Carel Struycken (Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Addams Family), Felix Silla (Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi), and Mark Dodson (Darkwing Duck, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi), the veteran voice actor who lends his talents to the new Chromic Con trailer.

OK, so it's a little about Hollywood, but the appearance by "special guest star" Captain Cannabis may balance that out.
