Is ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ the Name of Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ Sequel?

Don’t expect rainbows and sunshine when Batman and Superman meet for the first time on the big screen. By all accounts, it sounds like their upcoming movie will see a fair share of aggression between the two DC Comics heroes.

At Comic-Con International in San Diego, screenwriter David S. Goyer spoke about his work with Zack Snyder on the 2015 team-up, saying, “The next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015 and it’s — we’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but, yes, it’s — that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.”

As it turns out, Warner Bros. owns the domain names and, as well as, which was created in 2002 and updated Nov. 8, 2012. The timing of the domain purchase coincides with director Wolfgang Petersen’s failed plans for Batman vs. Superman in the early 2000s, so it’s entirely possible the studio is thinking about other directions for their newly energized project.

Regardless, Goyer’s emphasis on “versus” and “rematch” falls in line with the aggressive Dark Knight Returns dialogue read by actor Harry Lennix to reveal the Man of Steel sequel news: “I want you to remember, Clark. In all the years to come, in your most private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the man who beat you.”

In other words, Superman and Batman aren’t likely to make it to the friend zone without trading a healthy amount of fisticuffs, first.

Zack Snyder’s untitled Superman/Batman movie hits theaters sometime in 2015.
