Marvel Studios' Ironheart is set to introduce Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ironheart will follow the journey of Riri, a teenage scientific genius who builds her own Iron Man-inspired suit of high-tech armor. The plot details of the series are currently being kept under wraps, but fans will get to meet the young hero before the show arrives.

Ahead of her solo Disney+ series, Thorne's Riri Willaims/Ironheart will make her MCU debut in the upcoming Marvel Studio's film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, slated for release on Nov. 11, 2022. Recent merchandise for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever even revealed the first look of the character's armor in the upcoming sequel.

Ironheart reportedly began filming in June 2022 under the production name "Wise Guy." A production update in May confirmed that filming of test shots/B-roll of the Disney+ series has already begun. Ironheart will follow a similar format to the previous Disney+ original series, featuring six episodes. Marvel has appointed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever writer and director Ryan Coogler as an executive producer on the Ironheart series and confirmed Dear White People director Sam Bailey and Angela Barne will be directing the series. Snowpiercer writer Chinaka Hodge, meanwhile, will serve as the series showrunner.

Along with Thorne, the confirmed cast of Ironheart includes In the Heights star Anthony Ramos, This Is Us alum Lyric Ross and Harper Anthony, all in undisclosed roles. Recently, Good Girls alum Manny Montana was reported to be joining the cast as a series regular. The series is also reportedly looking to cast the MCU's first nonbinary character, who would play a significant role throughout all six episodes of the upcoming series.

Ironheart does not yet have a release date on Disney+.
