This is a brand-new feature called "Might Be Spoiling Me Too Much," where I spotlight instances of comic books inadvertently spoiling other comic books due to delays.

Today, we look at how Iron Man's silver armor debuted not in his own comic book, but in the West Coast Avengers!

In 1984, the West Coast Avengers debuted, with Iron Man as a member of the team...

However, this Iron Man wasn't Tony Stark, but rather James Rhodes, who was filling in for Stark due to Stark's alcoholism causing Stark to be unable to function as a superhero anymore.

Tony slowly got sober. At the same time, though, James Rhodes was having trouble with the Iron Man armor (as it was designed for Tony's brainwaves) but moreover, in Iron Man #199, Rhodes was injured by an explosion set by Tony's rival, Obadiah Stane, and so he was unable to operate the armor period.

So Tony designed a new, more advanced silver armor that debuted in Iron Man #200 by Denny O'Neil, M.D. Bright, Ian Akin and Brian Garvey...

However, due to delays, Iron Man's armor ACTUALLY debuted in West Coast Avengers #1 by Steve Englehart, Al Milgrom and Joe Sinnott!

Now, don't get me wrong, obviously everyone figured out that Iron Man was returning and in fact, people would assume that Iron Man would return specifically in Iron Man #200! But it is still kind of crazy to see Iron Man's brand-new armor debut outside of Iron Man's comic book series.

Okay, that's it for the first installment of "Might Be Spoiling Me Too Much." If you have a suggestion for this new feature, feel free to drop me a line at brianc@cbr.com!
