WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Iron Man #10, by Christopher Cantwell, CAFU, Frank D'Armata and VC's Joe Caramagna.

Tony Stark's life has taken one shocking turn after another since he started dealing with the immensely powerful Avengers villain Korvac. His most recent quest to stop the mad tyrant has taken Tony to the stars, and Iron Man has found himself on a strange new world. While he has been stranded on an alien planet, Tony has managed to find friendly faces in the ex-villain Stilt-Man and the armored hero Avro-X, who have carved out lives for themselves amidst a serene backdrop hiding the giant-size threats of Ultimo's people.

As these giants terrorize and gorge on the people below, the situation has more than a passing similarity to the blockbuster anime and manga Attack on Titan. Fortunately, this isn't the first time that Tony has dealt with giant-size people eaters.

The place where Tony has found himself transported to, Megiddo, is filled with settlers from other worlds, all seemingly brought here in the same way that Tony was. After offering to help the people of Megiddo, Tony gets the chance to do just that by flying into the fray against an enemy that he knows all too well. Somehow, amidst the wreckage, Iron Man didn't recognize that the disassembled bodies strewn about belonged to some number of Ultimos, nor did he recognize that the energy he was borrowing from them had been harvested from the people of Megiddo in the worst way possible. When a group of Ultimos attack, one of the giant mechanical villains reaches down into the crowd, grabbing three victims and ends their lives with a chomp. It's a gruesome sight, but not one that Tony should be entirely unfamiliar with since he's dealt with this particular breed of sentient super robots in the past.

Tony Stark and the rest of the Avengers have dealt with all manner of monstrosities, including the Titans of Attack on Titan in 2015's "Attack on Avengers" by Hajime Isayama, C.B. Cebulski and Gerardo Sandoval. This story saw the titular heroes facing off against massive humanoid beasts that had arisen from the ocean's depths without warning to terrorize Manhattan. The Titans are the signature feature of Attack on Titan, the long-running franchise, written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, that on the exploits of Eren Yeager, a young man capable of transforming himself into one of the same massive Titans that have plagued his world for over a century. Along with his fellow fighters, Eren wages a bloody war on the carnivorous monstrosities that threaten his home as well as the other forces that would see his people crushed underfoot.

While the Avengers collision with Attack on Titan was ultimately just a one-off out-of-continuity story, it was still a spectacle to behold, as two of comics' biggest franchises came together. With any luck, Iron Man and his new compatriots will have an easier time dealing with this planet full of Ultimos than he ever had fighting real Titans.

Ultimo has long been one of the most impossibly powerful forces in the Marvel Universe, and though Tony Stark has brought the likes of them down before, he has never encountered the mechanical menace on his homeworld or faced this many Ultimos at once. Even with the help of those that have managed to survive for so long despite the constant threat of consumption, there is little doubt that the battles ahead will be some of the most trying that Tony has ever lived through. Of course, if he can manage to pull through them, he has an ever greater fight against Korvac ahead of him.
