Gwyneth Paltrow, who played Pepper Potts in seven films across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is unaware that her co-star Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye has received his own Disney+ series.

On her Instagram story, Paltrow responded to someone asking the question, "Have you watched the Hawkeye series?" She responded by writing, "No, what is that?" Following the death of Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, Paltrow's Potts has been temporarily retired from the MCU and only mentioned in films like Spider-Man: Far From Home, and it appears that the actor is not up-to-date on current Marvel projects since her last appearance, which has been made evident before.

Even when she was actively involved in the MCU, Paltrow had a history of not paying close attention to the films she's appeared in. Outside of the three Iron Man films, Potts' appearances have mostly been as cameos, with Marvel Studios' intense secrecy around its productions resulting in actors with smaller parts often not knowing what films they're appearing in. Even so, Paltrow has been more open than most actors about not knowing what Marvel films she's appeared in, or who her co-stars are.

On Jon Favreau's The Chef Show in 2019, Paltrow repeatedly denied that she and Favreau (who plays Happy Hogan in the MCU) did a scene together for Spider-Man: Homecoming. She was only reminded of her involvement after Favreau described the events of the scene in greater detail.

Also in 2019, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige reported that Paltrow was very confused by Samuel L. Jackson's presence at the funeral scene in Avengers: Endgame, implying that she was unaware of Jackson's Nick Fury character entirely. Fury has appeared in 12 MCU films--nearly half of the 26 released so far--and five of the seven Paltrow has appeared in. Bucky Barnes and Falcon and the Winter Soldier actor Sebastian Stan has also said that Paltrow has repeatedly forgotten who he is.

It's possible this Instagram response simply means Paltrow didn't hear about the Hawkeye Disney+ series, or that she wasn't sure of the multiple different things that "the Hawkeye series" could refer to. New episodes of Hawkeye are released on Wednesdays on Disney+.
