Recent reports of an Iron Man first-person AAA game got a bit more detail today from the industry insider who initially teased it months ago.

Gaming industry insider Nick Baker clarified rumors of an Iron Man game from Electronic Arts over the weekend while speaking on The XboxEra Podcast. Baker discussed his previous reveal from June when he'd informed viewers that he'd received a leak that EA was currently working on a Marvel AAA game about a specific character or group from the comics. At the time, he'd refused to give any hints, as he admitted he was "bad at giving clues." However, he's now confirmed that title is the similarly rumored Iron Man game and provided a few extra details.

At first, he quips he "made it up" and just happened to get it right, acknowledging comments at the time from several gamers that accused him of such. However, since his reveal, industry insiders Jeff Grubb and Tom Henderson confirmed they'd also heard similar rumors. Because of this, Baker decided to clarify what he had heard from his source. According to Baker, he showed Grubb the DM from a source claiming that an EA was working on an Iron Man title. Part of the reason Baker hesitated to name the game's central figure at the time was that the title is "super, super, super, super early" in development to the point that "there's a chance it still doesn't happen." He additionally ran the information past Henderson, who'd said he'd heard similar rumors.

Baker further confirmed that he was not referring to the Black Panther game that is also rumored to be in active development at EA. Grubb revealed that title during GiantBomb's Game Mess Mornings. That game, currently under the working title Project Rainier and developed by the new studio founded by ex-Monolith VP Kevin Stephens, has seen far more details leaked. Reportedly, it will be an open-world, single-player title that follows the main character as they rise up to take the mantle after the Black Panther has died.

If the rumors prove true, these aren't the only games currently in the works for Marvel. Perhaps the nearest to completion is the turn-based action RPG Marvel's Midnight Suns, which just got delayed for a second time. Another is a highly-anticipated first title from Skydance New Media, run by Uncharted creator Amy Hennig. Neither Marvel nor Skydance revealed many details about the upcoming AAA title. However, Hennig called it an "original story" with "all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters."

None of the upcoming Marvel titles has an official release date, though Marvel's Midnight Suns is now expected sometime late in the current fiscal year.
