According to multiple reliable industry insiders, a new Iron Man-centric first-person title is currently in the works.Game reporter Jeff Grubb revealed the news during his Game Mess Mornings, revealing that, along with a first-person, open-world Black Panther title, Electronic Arts is also in the process of developing a similar Marvel title. Tom Henderson, another gaming reporter and industry insider, corroborated the news, adding that he'd heard it would center on Iron Man. However, he emphasized it as only a "rumor" for now. "I've heard a few rumors that it's Iron Man but I never had anything concrete to fully report on," he said. "Put this heavily under the "rumor" category for now and if I hear/see more information that's concrete I'll report on it properly. Just thought it was worth mentioning."RELATED: Iron Man Wants to Buy a Weapon Capable Of MASSIVE Destruction

A report in late June 2022 suggested EA might be in the works on a AAA Marvel game. With Grubb's reveal about Black Panther in July, it seemed the report had been all but confirmed. This latest rumor, however, puts that into question, as the Iron Man game could be the previously reported title.

The Black Panther game, code-named Project Rainier after the development studio's location in Washington State, reportedly follows the player as they train to take up the mantle following T'Challa's death. Considering the similarities to the plot of Wakanda Forever, the story raised questions about a possible connection between the two, which remain unanswered. As the player takes the role of the upcoming Black Panther, it also isn't certain whether the main character is an entirely made-up one or one taken from the comics.

This wouldn't be the first time Iron Man appeared in a video game in recent years, though it would be a uniquely solo entry. The only other Iron Man-only title is the Iron Man VR game, which put players right in the suit. Other outings for the hero typically include him in a roaster of Marvel favorites, like in Contest of Champions, Ultimate Alliance or Marvel's Avengers. Another upcoming title featuring Tony Stark is the highly-anticipated Marvel's Midnight Suns. The title seems to feature an over-powered Iron Man, as gameplay depicts the hero as a jack-of-all-trades, expert in all.

There is no rumored release window for EA's Iron Man game.
